Chertsey High School update
We are delighted to announce that our new free school, Chertsey High School has received its funding agreement and will be ready to open in September. The school is located on the Runnymede Centre site and will initially be based within the existing building whilst building works are underway for a brand new, state of the art school building. The school will also benefit from the use of a 3G pitch as well as football fields which are part of Abbey Rangers Football Club.
The school was overwhelmed by the number of applications received and it has reached the full PAN of 120 students for the first year of opening, with another 50 students currently on a waiting list.
On the 17th May the team was invited to the Department for Education, where they had their Readiness to Open meeting. The team presented their thoughts around any risks, alongside mitigations for all areas related to the project. The Free Schools Group responded extremely positively to both their presentation and documentation, and after an interview focussing on site, curriculum and leadership, the Free Schools Group awarded Chertsey High School with the ‘green light’ that they are ready to open.
The meeting was followed by a pre-opening Ofsted inspection where again, the school received the ‘green light’ after satisfying all the necessary standards.
